Selena Gomez was getting ready for a night out with her best friend, Taylor Swift, when fans spotted the actress holding an e-pen.
Selena Gomez fans are concerned about her health.
A video of the singer and actress went viral on Saturday, May 31, the day she went out with her best friend, Grammy-award-winning singer Taylor Swift. A fan account posted a video in which Selena seems to appear “vaping” as she was getting her hair and makeup done.
Selena, whose hair was styled in a slick back bun, was seen holding what looked like an e-cigarette or vape pen and exhaling a vapor-like mist while holding her phone, and getting her glam done. The Only Murders in the Building star suffers from lupus and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.

Fans quickly reacted, in shock, that she would put an item that is known to have nicotine into her body.
One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Isn’t she supposed to live as healthy as possible for someone who has a chronic disease?” Another person wrote: “vaping is just embarrassing, especially at her big age.” A third person wrote: “I would get so mad if i was the donnor (sic).”
Others speculated about the type of vape pen the singer may have been using in the video. Some pens contain s nicotine, CBD or THC. There were also questions if Selena used the pen for “medical” reasons like pain relief or to help cope with her anxiety.

Selena was diagnosed with lupus in 2013 but did not reveal it to the world until 2015.
The auto-immune disease “occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs (autoimmune disease). Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
Due to complications and symptoms, Selena famously underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, with her then-best friend Francia Raisa.
The singer and actress has since been vocal about lupus and the impact it has had on her life. Selena even released a documentary on Apple TV+, “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me,” which showed her lupus diagnosis and treatment. The film follows Selena over six years and follows her experiences with the autoimmune disease, including a period of remission and a health scare.
Selena revealed in December that her lupus was in remission, which means she had not been affected by symptoms.
